Aircraft Mechanic 3 - Maintenance Manager


The
Aircraft Mechanic 3 (General) - Maintenance Manager performs the full range of military tactical aircraft maintenance functions including assembly and modification on the assigned aircraft (AH-64, CH-47, UH-60), their major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and related systems.

  • Perform the full range of military tactical aircraft maintenance.

  • Install, connect, and adjust complete systems such as fuel, heat, lubrication, hydraulic, engine, and transmission: install and align fuselage parts; balances, aligns, and installs tail rotor assemblies; rig complete flight control systems.

  • Incorporate authorized modifications and changes.

  • Make operational checks of hydraulic and fuel systems using external power sources and powered ground equipment.

  • Inspect and troubleshoots to determine cause of malfunctions; disassembles to point of trouble; adjusts, repairs, realigns or replaces defective component or assembly.

  • Direct the work of lower-graded mechanics for complete assembly, modification and checkout of the entire aircraft and coordinates with related trades such as electrical, avionics, and sheet metal to assure proper sequence of the complete aircraft assembly process.

  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent is required.

  • FAA A&P Certificate OR FCC License (Elements 1 and 3) required to work in Germany.

  • Shall have Five (5) years of recent applicable aircraft maintenance experience.

  • Must possess an (FAA A&P), with at least One year experience inspecting assigned Mission Design Series UH60, AH64, CH47 (MDS) aircraft.

  • If no (A&P) an FCC License with (Elements 1 and 3) will be required; with a minimum Five-years' experience as an Aircraft Inspector on the Mission Design Series UH60, AH64, CH47 (MDS) airframe they will be inspecting.

  • If No Current FCC License, Candidate must be willing to obtain the FCC License – (Details can be obtained from the Recruiter).

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance (NAC-I, T1). Interim NACI must be approved prior to start date and Deployment.

Germany Specific Requirements:

  • TESA approval: Must be able to qualify for TESA approval; must have over 5 years career total Aviation maintenance experience.

  • Must be US Citizen. Must have a current and valid US Passport.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Shall possess the level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and II and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions.

  • Shall have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures and replacement of parts requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.

  • Shall have basic knowledge of electrical theory.

  • Shall have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers.

  • Shall have a working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, utilizing the Army's Logistics Information System (ACN, ULLS-A).

  • Shall have a detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as cable tensiometers.

  • Knowledge of the makeup, operation, installation and modification of a wide variety of classes, models and series of aircraft, their major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components and related systems.

  • Technical knowledge of the aircraft models and components/sub-assemblies assigned for maintenance, modification and repair.

  • Ability to assemble a variety of system assemblies, and sub-assemblies such as fuel and hydraulic systems, tail boom assemblies, and the power train. Must be able to connect, mesh, align and adjust the system with one another and to determine the sequence of installation of these systems for proper coordination of the entire aircraft assembly process.

  • Able to properly use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges, torque wrenches and scales and test, measurement and diagnostic equipment related to specific aircraft models.

  • Able to trouble shoot and determine when faulty systems or assemblies can/can’t be corrected through repair of replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.

  • Ability to read, apply and interpret technical data.

  • U.S. military technical school or specialized training course is desired.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

  • Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
